Las Olas Association The Waves

From the highs of the wave peaks, to the lows of their troughs, Las Olas Association is not immune to the trials and tribulations of the human experience right now. We celebrate as our members succeed and we mourn as our members suffer setbacks, failures, and close. But the two things we can count on are that, one, change is required, and two, a new wave will surely follow. Our members and Board of Directors are the backbone of the organization and work hard to ensure a great Las Olas Boulevard for all who live, work, play and visit. There are a few highs and lows that the Las Olas Association and its’ members have experienced over the last few months that we would like to share with you.

One of our high notes is about our Executive Director, Erika Del Rio. She started her job last year right before COVID hit and has managed to pull together a strong team to ensure that we could continue to mobilize and keep our community and businesses informed about any COVID protocols and governmental procedures. We even had events that were held on a smaller scale. This was all done during a year that had all question marks about everything from rules about wearing face masks to sharing information about PPP loans.

You will see our logo of “Las Olas Loves You” with a big Heart on posters at many of our businesses on the boulevard which was created by our Marketing committee. This is our creative reminder to guests and businesses that we as an association love you and that the businesses love you as well.

Live on Las Olas” was also created by our Marketing team. On Fridays, we have a Facebook Live event which showcases many of our member businesses with a live stream. The team, Jodi Tanner and Erika Del Rio, will visit the merchant, showcase its wares, try its food, talk about any specials and hours or events, and enthusiastically invite all to come to Las Olas Boulevard to Eat, Shop and Enjoy! It has been a huge success.

Another a great thing happened when we re-imagined Christmas on Las Olas. It went from a one day closure of the boulevard to a “12 Days of Christmas on Las Olas” which continued the holiday joy for the community and the business owners during one of the darkest periods of most of our lives. It was truly incredible and inspirational that we could find good cheer. We owe it to you all, our members who were ready to move forward and collaborate to find the brightness and good tidings during the holidays.

Yet another incredibly positive thing for this year is our Board of Directors. Being volunteers, it shows us how determined and committed the board is about facing the challenges we may all have during these times. They find solutions and create new ideas to help our community continue to be successful and prosper. Here is your Board of Directors and a little bit about them… click here »
