Habitat for Humanity of Broward celebrated the completion of BBI Village, a new 20-unit affordable housing community in Fort Lauderdale, during a home dedication ceremony held over Mother’s Day weekend.

The milestone welcomed 20 South Florida families into first-time homeownership and highlighted the impact of public, private and nonprofit collaboration in addressing Broward County’s housing crisis.

Located in the Middle River neighborhood, BBI Village features energy-efficient townhomes with access to schools, transportation and major employment centers. The project was supported by a $2.4 million investment from Burdette Beckmann Inc. (BBI), along with a $540,000 state appropriation approved by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Additional support was provided by Broward County and the City of Fort Lauderdale.

For many families, receiving the keys during Mother’s Day weekend made the moment especially meaningful, representing stability, security and a new beginning.

Habitat Broward’s homeownership program combines affordable mortgage financing, financial education and required sweat equity hours completed by future homeowners in place of a traditional down payment.

During the ceremony, Cinch Home Services announced it would provide three years of free home warranty coverage for all 20 families. Additional sponsors donated welcome gifts including toolkits from Junior League, home goods baskets from Bridge Church and mini planters from BBI to help families settle into their new homes.

Dignitaries in attendance included Sen. Rosalind Osgood, Rep. Chip LaMarca, Broward County Vice Mayor Robert McKinzie, Fort Lauderdale Commissioner Pamela Beasley-Pittman, Cinch Home Services CEO Sharena Ali and Burdette Beckmann Inc. CEO Robert Taylor Jr.
