North Lauderdale Townhomes Unveiled by Habitat Broward

Habitat for Humanity of Broward recently celebrated the unveiling of North Lauderdale Townhomes, a milestone development that expands access to affordable housing while strengthening the fabric of the community. The project brings eight new townhomes that will house approximately 20 residents, all first-time homeowners.

During the dedication ceremony, community leaders emphasized the importance of developments like North Lauderdale Townhomes in addressing housing needs and supporting long-term economic stability.

Safe, stable housing is the foundation of a strong community,” added Michael Udine, Broward County Government and Broward County Commissioner. “Habitat’s North Lauderdale Townhomes is a great example of how public-private partnerships can create real opportunities for working families while strengthening neighborhoods and generating long-term economic benefits for our county.”

The development is projected to generate approximately $584,000 in property tax revenue over the next decade, with funds reinvested into the community to support local services and infrastructure.

As part of Habitat’s homeownership program, each family completed more than 300 hours of sweat equity over the past year, reflecting the organization’s model of partnership, commitment, and shared investment in the path to homeownership.

Among the new homeowners is Antuane Richardson, a customer service representative with the Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer Department and a devoted single father. As the first in his family to become a homeowner, he views the achievement as a foundation for stability and opportunity for his son and a meaningful step toward building generational wealth.

The development was made possible through the support of dedicated sponsors, community organizations, and volunteers whose contributions helped bring the project to completion and ensure lasting impact for the families served.

The unveiling of North Lauderdale Townhomes highlights how strong partnerships and community engagement can create pathways to homeownership while fostering more resilient neighborhoods across Broward County.
