This year, the event will include a special tribute to the memory of Laura
Ward, long-time supporter and former member of the
board of directors of
Historic Stranahan House.
Building on the success of past years' events, the plan remains consistent
for 2006. The festivities kick off with casual cocktails and passed hors
d'oeuvres enjoy while perusing the many items at the silent auction. Dozens
of treasures, from authentic period books, silver, and artifacts, as well as
sumptuous gift baskets, ticket to entertainment and sporting events, home
décor, jewelry from Carroll's Jewelers on Las Olas Boulevard, and more will
be available for bidding. A pioneer dinner, served family buffet style in a
tent along the north bank of the New River, will feature pioneer favorite
dishes and refreshments. Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy musical
entertainment and free tours of Stranahan House, amid an informal atmosphere
where Florida casual attire is required. This isn't any ordinary, formal
fund raising dinner!
"We are so pleased that Bank of Florida continues to demonstrate its support
for Stranahan House, agreeing to be our signature sponsor for the third year
in a row," said Stranahan House executive director Barbara Keith.
"Their
generosity makes it possible for us to showcase the House to hundreds of
influential business and community leaders. Plus, it's a natural
partnership, since many Bank of Florida board members have served on the Stranahan House board of directors over the years, and been celebrated at
our past roast events. And, Stranahan House served as Fort Lauderdale's
first bank."
Individual tickets for Reminisce on the River are available for $125.00
and reservations for corporate or group tables of 10 are being accepted. For
more information, please contact Stranahan House at (954) 524-4736.
Stranahan House is Fort Lauderdale's oldest historic home, and served as the
