About
American Lung Association of Florida, Inc.- South Area
Founded in 1904, the American Lung Association is the oldest
not-for-profit health agency in America. The American Lung
Association of Florida-South Area (ALAFSA) serves three counties
including Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe.
Its mission is to prevent
lung disease and promote lung health in South Florida through
patient services, programs, public education and research. In
addition to helping people with asthma, ALAFSA strives to help those
individuals suffering from lung cancer, emphysema, chronic
bronchitis, TB, pneumonia, influenza, occupational lung problems,
respiratory allergies, lung problems caused by air pollution and
infant pulmonary disorders.
The 11th Annual Las Olas Wine and Food
Festival benefits the ALAFSA.
Las Olas Wine and Food Festival
Over a decade ago the first Las Olas Wine & Food
Festival began. Originally the event was held in November to commemorate
Beaujolais Nouveau. After a few years it was moved to March and
this year we are celebrating in May.
When the festival began the street was not closed
and tastings took place in merchant locations and on the sidewalks.
As the event grew and more vendors were involved, we began to flow
over into the street and the decision was made to have a street closing.
As we celebrate out 11th year the American Lung Association of Florida
thanks those who have been loyal to us for all these years and look
forward to making new friends through this vital fund raising event
for our organization!
