"Many streets in America have unexpected street closures due to
snow, a burst water main ... or other accidents. Unless we have a
hurricane come through, at least we know when our street closures
are going to be! Events are always planned way in advance which
gives us all the chance to maximize this opportunity!"
[Very good point! Lots of time to plan!]
"I held a 'customer appreciation' cocktail party at my business
during Christmas on Las Olas. It was a very successful event, with
the wonderful atmosphere on the boulevard - the party couldn't
fail".
[Great idea - make the most of the bonhomie!]
"I tell my staff that all the people who come to the boulevard for
events have wallets or credit cards and might want to use them at
our store!"
[They also want to eat and drink...]
"We're not located on the part of the boulevard which is closed
during the Wine and Food Festival, but it's amazing how many people
walk past our business to get to the event".
[True. You don't have to be where all the action is to get
your
piece of the action!]
It's no longer about computers ...
Who do you know who doesn't have a phone in their pocket or purse?
Every time I'm on the boulevard (which is often) I particularly pay
attention to how many people are consulting their phones - and there
are many.
Of course, this site looks terrific on phones. And we get messages
directly from people who are actually on the street asking for our
advice and recommendations. Here are just a few from the last couple
of days.
Where to eat on Las Olas outside?
Favorite shop for art on Las Olas?
Restaurant on Las Olas w/ vegetarian options & steak?
Where is Asia Bay on Las Olas?
What time is the market on Sunday?
Dog-friendly businesses on Las Olas?
At Las Olas. Where to eat?
Do you know how many people are on the boulevard and using
Foursquare, Yelp, Gowalla or similar services? Well, I can't
give you an exact figure either, but I know it's a large - and
growing - number. Are they finding you
and your business? Ask us and we'll look into it for you. If they're
not finding you, we can fix it. Be ahead of the game!

LAS OLAS BOULEVARD MARKETING
|
|
|
Some of
the great opportunities for marketing your business on Las Olas are
available during our street events. There are approximately five events during
the year including the Las Olas Wine and Food Festival, Christmas on
Las Olas and the Las Olas Art Fair (which is usually twice a year).
These events bring thousands of people to our area and are widely reported in
the press, tourism guides and important websites all over the United States.
These events give you a great opportunity to market your business to new
customers as Las Olas Boulevard becomes even more of a destination and has a
wonderful carnival atmosphere.
I'm sure that you have many ideas about maximizing these great opportunities,
but if you need any help or guidance, just let us know - that's what we're here
for!
We have many ways of promoting your business (at no cost to you!) so make sure
that you get in touch.
No matter how much of a Scrooge you may be, you can't say "bah humbug" to
Christmas on Las Olas! This event has been happening since before most
(all?) of the current businesses came to the boulevard! And, wonderfully, it
takes place at a time when people are still shopping for the holidays - a great
opportunity for all retailers!
The boulevard has a great atmosphere during this event and gets everyone into
the Christmas spirit. It also makes people realize that the holiday is just a
few weeks away and they need to finalize their shopping! What great potential -
what a great opportunity! Because it is the season of goodwill, it also gives
you the opportunity to create goodwill towards your company. Promote your
favorite charity during this event, perhaps. Grab some of that goodwill and do
good at the same time! Any promotions company will tell you how important cause
marketing is at the moment. (If it's good enough for Pepsi, it's good enough for
you!)
And speaking of charity, the Las Olas Wine and Food Festival isn't just
an event that brings thousands of foodies (plus TV cameras) to the boulevard. It
also raises a lot of money for the American Lung Association. We can all be
proud of that achievement from 'our' boulevard!
Just like Christmas on Las Olas, the event fills the boulevard with people who
are out to enjoy themselves. For many, the street itself is part of the
attraction of the event. And it's you, the Las Olas business owners, who make up
that street. If you're not sure how to make the most of this opportunity, just
let us know. We're here to help.
The Las Olas Art Fairs are another well-established tradition - and isn't
it good to know that our boulevard has events with traditional roots? Of course,
if you're selling art or gifts, the events bring thousands of potential
customers to your door. It's what is (sadly) referred to as a 'no-brainer'. But
other retailers have a great opportunity also.
As it says in the sidebar, everyone who comes to the boulevard is a person who
eats, drinks and shops! Events such as the art fairs create a friendly and
welcoming mood on the boulevard and people are visiting us to enjoy themselves
and make the most of what we have to offer.
"The events on the boulevard don't just bring us business for the duration of
the event. We have noticed that we get a number of new customers in our
restaurant during events. What's even better, is that we see them coming back.
If it hadn't been for these events, they might never have tried us out. We try
to keep a careful account of where our new customers are coming from but it's
impossible to determine how many have been attracted by these events ... we're
just very thankful for them!"
Exactly! Any event that brings people to the boulevard is good for us
all. If not at the time of the events, with their knock-on effects. Are you
making the most of these fantastic marketing opportunities? If you're not,
contact us and we can develop a marketing strategy for you.
