Since 1940, when Maus & Hoffman opened at 710 East Las Olas, the vision of the owners was to carry the very finest clothing and accessories and offer old world service. Today, the 5,000 square foot flagship store at 800 East Las Olas, remains true to that vision and has grown to a total of six stores.

"By specializing in top-of-the-line labels like Brioni, Hickey-Freeman and Oxxford Clothes; we have carved out a unique niche in the specialty retailing marketplace," explained Tom Maus. Tom and his brother, Bill Maus, Jr. are at the Las Olas store. "Our family motto for sixty five years - 'when only the finest is good enough' continues to guide us." Tom added. Another guiding principal that hasn't changed has been to offer its customers attentive, personal service.

Over the years, the retailing industry has changed dramatically, but Maus & Hoffman remains a family owned and operated luxury retailer. Their growth has been in the number of stores … they have six throughout the State of Florida … in their expansion beyond the brick and mortar stores including their highly successful international catalog business and their growing e-tailing division ... and their most recent innovation in the opening of their catalog store at 225 S.E. 6th Avenue, featuring many items from their catalog and their five stores at 50% off regular prices.

Twice a year, Maus & Hoffman holds trunk show that take place over three consecutive weeks, offering customers the opportunity of choosing made-to-measure suits, sport coats and slacks. This February, the cycle begins on Thursday, February 2nd with Oxxford Clothes, followed by Hickey-Freeman on Thursday, February 9th and ending with Brioni on Thursday, February 16th.

"Unlike shopping for ‘off the rack suits', our trunk shows offer men an opportunity to practically design their own clothing, by choosing the fabric from hundreds of luxury swatches," Bill Maus, Jr. explained. "They can then choose the style they prefer from dozens of the latest models, have their measurements taken and have their suits ‘made-to-measure'. The end results are distinctive clothes that reflect the individual taste and sense of style of the buyer," Maus added.

Both Maus & Hoffman and Hickey-Freeman are now dressing a new generation of customers. Their new ‘His First' Collection is shown at the same time their men's Hickey-Freeman Trunk Show takes place. Another item that helps set Maus & Hoffman apart from other specialty retailers is their Money Wrap! "Imagine, sending a gift Maus & Hoffman… wrapped in REAL MONEY!" Bill Maus said. Maus was referring to the special sheets of uncut $1 and $2 bills from the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Each sheet measures 21" x 25" and is sold only as a gift-wrap for M&H merchandise. One-dollar sheets are $55 each and two-dollar sheets are $110. "We put a special label on these gifts that say ‘Warning … destroying this gift- wrap may be hazardous to your wealth!'" Bill Mused.

Other well-known labels you'll find at Maus & Hoffman include Ferragamo and Artioli shoes, Cashmere cardigans, sweaters and twin sets from Scotland and Zimmerli underwear from Switzerland. There is also a growing line of Maus & Hoffman Private Label in almost all categories for men and women. To get a better idea of why men prefer to shop at a trunk show, vs. off-the-rack and what goes into making a fine suit, visit the website. You can also check the trunk show schedule at the other four stores as well as their address and phone numbers. To order a copy of their latest catalog call 800 – Mau – Maus (628-6287). Las Olas in the Community : Offers : Where to Stay : Events : Beach : Location : Join

Las Olas has always been Fort Lauderdale’s most charming thoroughfare.
Las Olas is at the forefront of everything from fashion boutiques and art galleries,
to memorable restaurants, sidewalk cafes and bars.

Running almost parallel to Fort Lauderdale’s New River on its way to the Atlantic Ocean,
Las Olas is a broad avenue divided by a wide landscaped median of flowers and towering shade trees.
Over the canal at the east end of the tree lined median, in the Colee Hammock neighborhood,
are more shops, restaurants, and stores too unique to describe… all worth exploring!
The energetically inclined can even walk down to the beach, where Las Olas meets the ocean.

A few minutes from most hotels and easily accessible by water taxi or land taxi,
Las Olas is a lively, pulsating, world class boulevard. Night or day, Las Olas is the place to be.

Special offers and events, where to stay, where to eat - your guide to Las Olas Blvd, the heart of Fort Lauderdale.
(often misspelled as Los Olas, Las Olas means 'The Waves')
