Located in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale's Arts and Entertainment District, the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale is Broward County's most exciting venue for cultural activities. The Museum features an ever-changing menu of exhibitions, along with an ambitious education program offering art classes in a variety of media and subjects for all ages and skill levels, and weekly special events ranging from jazz concerts to lectures to yoga lessons.

Recent large-scale exhibitions include Diana, a celebration and Saint Peter and the Vatican: The Legacy of the Popes, and shows featuring the work of such diverse artists as photographers Ansel Adams, Clyde Butcher, Maria Martínez-Cañas, and Tony Mendoza; painters Edouard Duval Carrie, Enrique Martínez Celaya, and Stephen Scott Young; and sculptor Edwina Sandys.

Among the Museum's permanent collections are American and European modern and contemporary art, Picasso ceramics, and contemporary Cuban art. The Museum also has a comprehensive collection of the work of the American impressionist William Glackens, as well as one of the country's largest collections of works by the Northern European artists who collectively make up the movement known as CoBrA (named for the cities of Copenhagen, Brussels, and Amsterdam).

The Museum's two floors have a total of more than 21,000 square feet of space (not including the Glackens Wing) available for exhibitions. The Norma and William Horvitz Auditorium, with a seating capacity of 256, is a versatile facility that can be used for lectures, concerts, plays, films, and other activities, and the Miriam and Bernard Peck Sculpture Terrace on the second floor offers roughly 2,800 square feet of space for sculpture installations. The auditorium, sculpture terrace, and other Museum facilities can be rented for private functions.

The Museum is located at One E. Las Olas Blvd., on the northeast corner of Andrews Avenue and Las Olas Boulevard, at the foot of the Andrews Avenue drawbridge over the New River. Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, with extended hours on Thursdays until 9 p.m. The Museum is closed on Tuesdays and on major national holidays. For special exhibitions such as Saint Peter and the Vatican and Diana, the Museum is open seven days a week (except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's). Special admission may apply for some exhibitions.

Las Olas in the Community : Offers : Where to Stay : Events : Beach : Location : Join

Las Olas has always been Fort Lauderdale’s most charming thoroughfare.
Las Olas is at the forefront of everything from fashion boutiques and art galleries,
to memorable restaurants, sidewalk cafes and bars.

Running almost parallel to Fort Lauderdale’s New River on its way to the Atlantic Ocean,
Las Olas is a broad avenue divided by a wide landscaped median of flowers and towering shade trees.
Over the canal at the east end of the tree lined median, in the Colee Hammock neighborhood,
are more shops, restaurants, and stores too unique to describe… all worth exploring!
The energetically inclined can even walk down to the beach, where Las Olas meets the ocean.

A few minutes from most hotels and easily accessible by water taxi or land taxi,
Las Olas is a lively, pulsating, world class boulevard. Night or day, Las Olas is the place to be.

Special offers and events, where to stay, where to eat - your guide to Las Olas Blvd, the heart of Fort Lauderdale.
(often misspelled as Los Olas, Las Olas means 'The Waves')
